The Isle of Wight – Jewel of the South

In a ‘diamond’ shape , it measures just 25 miles west-east by 13 miles north-south,and has a 65 mile coastline. Nestling in a generally warm & sunny micro- climate just off the south coast of England, it has an ideal ‘holiday’ blend of peaceful rural countryside bordered by a coastline packed with beaches, coves, and inlets.
Each year, the Isle of Wight is visited by in excess of 2.5 million people. The reason for its ongoing popularity is simply that, for whatever age and for whichever style of holiday is preferred, there’s plenty here for one and all to enjoy. The added bonus is that it’s all close together , so little precious holiday time is lost on just getting from place to place.
On this page of our website, and within our Special Events diary, we aim to give you an outline of the many local places to visit and things to see and do. For locations Island-wide, we provide more extensive and detailed information to our guests by way of emailed Guides and, at Chalet 28, a set of four Infomation Books.
